Over the past years ThaiAm Entertainment has experienced phenomenal growth. This is due to the company philosophy of providing top quality entertainment at fair and reasonable prices. While ThaiAm Entertainment is ever mindful of the needs of their clients, they are just as concerned about the needs of their talent. Being fair to all concerned is the reason for ThaiAm’s success. Paul’s wife Sim has played a very important role in the development and growth of ThaiAm Entertainment. Therefore it seemed only natural for her to start her own company when ThaiAm Entertainment got so big it would be easier to manage if there were two companies.

Q. What is a regular booking?

A. A regular booking consists of a contract for entertainment in which the entertainer performs with a minimum of one day a week for minimum of 3 months. Special events and one time bookings are negotiated on a case by case basis. Regular bookings require the venue to provide an adequate sound system if applicable.

All bookings for Christmas and New Years are negotiated.

Q. How much is a sound system for a full band?

A. Sound systems are based on location of the venue and the needs of the band (i.e. a 7 piece band requires a larger system than a 5 piece band). On average you can typically expect to pay between 12,000 and 15,000 THB for a sound system. Sound systems are turn key, we will have them delivered, setup, monitored during the performance, broken down and taken away after the show.

Paul & Sim Hawkins opened the Siam Bar & Grill in the heart of Lamai Beach. Siam Bar as it was called was a western style dinner club being fully air conditioned, carpeted with comfortable upholstered furniture. This dinner club comfortably sat 150 patrons. The concept was western and simple. Guests would come in for a dinner and a show. Siam Bar offered a variety of entertainment seven nights a week. Soon after opening Siam Bar, Paul & Sim found great variety entertainment was not readily available on Koh Samui. The solution was for Paul to bring talent from other parts of Thailand (and Asia) to work on Samui. This presented another problem… what to do with great acts when they were not working at Siam Bar. Through this natural evolution ThaiAm Entertainment was born. Paul formed this company to provide the best possible entertainment for his guests and to book this talent out on nights they were not working at Siam Bar. The availability of great entertainment was like a breath of fresh air on Samui… a shot in the arm for venues offering entertainment to their guests.
ThaiAm Entertainment started with three acts and no clients. He now regularly books more than 30 acts and has a client base of more than 100 venues. One of ThaiAm’s early acquisitions is today their flagship talent. The extremely popular Ovada Show Band has been managed by ThaiAm Entertainment since 2002. Over the past years ThaiAm Entertainment has experienced phenomenal growth. This is due to the company philosophy of providing top of the line entertainment at fair and reasonable prices. While ThaiAm Entertainment is ever mindful of the needs of their clients, they are just as concerned about the needs of their talent. Being fair to all concerned is the reason for ThaiAm’s success. Paul’s wife Sim has played a very important role in the development and growth of ThaiAm Entertainment. Therefore it seemed only natural for her to start her own company when ThaiAm got too big to handle. In 2008 Sim Hawkins opened Island Entertainment not to compete with ThaiAm Entertainment, but to support ThaiAm Entertainment. Through the many contacts she has made over the past eight years Sim is able to attract new talent to Island Entertainment. All the excellent talent you need is available through both companies.


The ThaiAm Team

ThaiAm Entertainment Managing Director ; ThaiAm Entertainment is owned and operated by American Paul Hawkins. Paul retired from a 30 year career in law enforcement to enjoy this tropical island paradise we call Koh Samui. Before settling down on Samui with his wife Sim, Paul spent 26 years with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office in Charleston, South Carolina and 4 years with the United Nation’s International Police Task Force in Bosnia, Croatia & Kosovo. Paul has always loved music and played bass guitar in a high school rock band. Paul manages all foreign talent and processes all visa supporting documents as well as applications for work permits. Paul is the main point of contact regarding foreign entertainment for both the entertainer and the venue and special occasion.

Island Entertainment Managing Director ; Island Entertainment is owned and operated by Somsri “Sim” Hawkins, wife of Paul. Sim, a citizen of Thailand works closely with government officials including the Mayor’s Office, The District Officer as well as Immigrations Police and the Labor Department. ThaiAm and Island Entertainment makes every effort to ensure all of our talent is 100% legal to work in Thailand. Sim makes sure nothing slips by her. Sim is also the main point of contact for all Thai aspects of the companies including the many Thai bands and dance troupes as well as those venues having Thai managers in charge of entertainment.

General Manager & Graphic Designer ; ThaiAm and Island Entertainment have always offered promotional posters and flyers to our clients for the various artists they book. This service was significantly enhanced in November of 2007 when Paul’s son “PJ” joined the company. PJ is a very talented graphic artist with a new and modern approach to this form of art. His addition to the company has brought true professionalism to this service. This is evidenced by the web site you are viewing. PJ is a self taught graphic designer and throughout his years has become proficient in the use of Adobe programs including; Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Soundbooth, Illustrator etc. While Adobe is this the choice for the majority of graphic designers PJ’s talent extends to many other programs both related and unrelated to graphic design.
